Clarivate Analytics Japan Ltd. announced the top 20 ranking of the most cited articles written by Japanese researchers during the 30 years of the Heisei Period (1989-2019).

These articles, which are in the top 0.001% (one in 100,000) by citation numbers, are considered to have a very large impact in their research fields.

An article on a bioinformatics tool MAFFT by IFReC's Associate Professor Kazutaka Kato and Professor Daron Standley(Systems Immunology) was ranked eighth in all research fields. Considering that this paper was published in 2013, it is a phenomenal achievement.
