A new mechanism of regulatory T cell generation (Sakaguchi G, in Immunity)

PRESS RELEASE

A group of Shimon Sakaguchi (Experimental Immunology, IFReC) discovered the specific DNA elements, which are indispensable for regulatory T cell (Treg) development and maintenance of immune homeostasis.

Regulatory T cells (Tregs) derived in the thymus / periphery suppress excessive immune reponses.
