Galectin-10 in serum extracellular vesicles reflects asthma pathophysiology (Kumanogoh G, in JACI)

PRESS RELEASE

Bronchial asthma (BA) is a common chronic disease affecting 300 million people globally, with up to 10% of patients presenting with severe BA. It is important to identify novel biomarkers reflecting tissue pathology from serum extracellular vehicles (EVs).
The research group led by Atsushi Kumanogoh (Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University/Immunopathology, WPI-IFReC) showed novel BMs such as Gal10 from serum EVs reflect disease pathophysiology in BA and may represent a new target for liquid biopsies.
