SFTPB as a biomarker of progressive pulmonary fibrosis (Kumanogoh G, in JCI Insight)
PRESS RELEASE
Interstitial pneumonia is an intractable disease that causes pulmonary fibrosis when it becomes chronic. Although early treatment is desirable to suppress the progression of fibrosis, it is difficult to predict. The research group of Atsushi Kumanogoh (Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University/IFReC) conducted a comprehensive analysis of extracellular vesicles (exosomes) circulating in the blood, and identified the pulmonary surfactant protein B3 (SP-B) as a new biomarker that can predict the progression of fibrosis.
