On behalf of the Osaka University Immunology Frontier Research Center (IFReC), it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 11th International Symposium of IFReC, Immunology at the Forefront.
Osaka University IFReC has continually held symposiums from 2008 with an aim to promote immunology research in Japan by publishing Japan’s outstanding research achievements in immunology and by introducing the world’s outstanding research achievements to researchers in Osaka University and throughout Japan. Centering on basic research achievements relating to immunology and covering a wide range including the achievements in applied research on diseases such as cancer, this symposium consists of 10 lectures by world-leading senior immunology researchers and the most talked about young researchers of today. It is our hope the active participation in this symposium of not only university researchers but also private-industry researchers and clinical researchers will promote collaboration among them in the future. Furthermore, around 50 young researchers from all over the world who will participate in the IFReC sponsored Winter School are also scheduled to participate in this international symposium. We look forward to the growth of international cooperation from the interchanges with the many overseas participants.
Jointly sponsored with the Osaka International Convention Center, the symposium is an activity contributing to the efforts for promoting healthy living and well-being for everyone and contributing to attain the sustainable development goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations and Japan’s national initiative of “Society 5.0.”
We would like to extend our gratitude to all participants and hope that this symposium will be a significant opportunity for you to share ideas and expertise for further development of immunology both in fundamental and clinical research.
Kiyoshi Takeda Director, Professor Immunology Frontier Research Center (IFReC), Osaka University
