Taroh Kinoshita, elected to Foreign Associate of National Academy of Sciences, USA
The National Academy of Sciences, USA (NAS) elected Professor Emeritus Taroh Kinoshita, a former PI of IFReC to the foreign associate of NAS.
The NAS is a private organization of scientists and engineers dedicated to the furtherance of science and its use for the general welfare. It was established in 1863 by a congressional act of incorporation signed by Abraham Lincoln that calls on the academy to act as an official adviser to the federal government, upon request, in any matter of science of technology (Website of NAS).
The NAS announced on April 29, that 120 new members and 30 foreign associates were elected in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Election to the NAS is one of the premier recognitions in science.
