Professor Shimon Sakaguchi of WPI-IFReC won The Keio Medical Science Prize 2008.

His major research achievement evaluated for this prize is "The Discovery of Regulatory T cells and Their Roles in Immunological Diseases".

The Commemorative Symposium was held on November 22, 2008 at School of Medicine, Keio University.
