The Japan IDDM Network announced that Prof. Shimon Sakaguchi (Experimental Immunology, IFReC) is the winner of the 2nd annual Kazuhiko Yamada Prize in 2019

The Kazuhiko Yamada Prize was established in accordance with the wishes of the late Mr. Kazuhiko Yamada, who himself was also a type 1 diabetes patient. The prize is awarded to researchers who make a significant contribution to the treatment of type 1 diabetes. This is quite an honor following Prof. Shinya Yamanaka (CiRA, Kyoto University), who was the first awardee in 2018.

The award ceremony will be held on September 16, 2019 at the Nakanoshima Center of Osaka University.
