"Imaging-Immunology Interactive Seminar" by Dr. Mark Miller was held on December 4.

The immune system of animals must respond rapidly and efficaciously to microbial infection. Dr. Miller (Department of Pathology and Immunology, Washington University School of Medicine, USA) has examined the regulation of T cell responses during bacterial infection. Now, with advances in multi-photon microscopy, complex cellular interactions can be observed in living tissues.

In the seminar, first, Dr. Miller explained basic principal of two-photon microscope (TPM) for biology studies. And he presented fascinating imaging and movie data that showing immune cells trafficking in infected organs and lymph node. Dr. Miller concluded that imaging technology using TPM can be applied for studies on various infection such as by salmonella.
