A joint symposium between UCL and IFReC was held.

REPORT

A joint symposium on Immunology between University College London (UCL) and IFReC was held at UCL in the United Kingdom on May 13, 2022.

The first symposium was held at Osaka University in June, 2019. However, an earlier attempt to hold a second symposium was cancelled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, but fortunately this time it was held face-to-face.

The symposium opened with opening remarks by Hans Stauss, Director of the UCL Institute of Immunology and Transplantation. Researchers from Osaka University and UCL took turns to present and discuss the latest research in immunology, including that related to COVID-19, to expand each other's knowledge. The event was held exclusively within UCL, but in a free registration format, with an audience of around more than 70 people listening to the researchers' presentations.

Osaka University and UCL have long been engaged in international exchange through mutual research discussions and as partners in international joint projects. We can expect continued collaboration also in the future.

This symposium is supported by a project grant for "An international network for advanced research on human immunology" under the "Core-to-Core Program" of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
